The Rally Sport was now the base model featuring body ground effects mimicking the IROC and the previous Z28. They had the 2.8 V6 fuel injected motor as standard with the 5.0 305 TBI as an option. The raised rear spoiler that became available in 1988 on the base coupes was short-lived and done away with for this year. The IROC-Zs were still available with the 170 hp (127 kW) TBI 305, 215 hp (160 kW) TPI 305, or the 235 hp (175 kW) TPI 350. IROCs had a new dual-converter option that boosted hp to 240 that was available only with the TPI 350 (and mandatory 700-R4 automatic). Also during this year all camaros were outfitted with the vats/passkey security system.

1992 Camaro

1992 was the final year of the third generation Camaro. A "25th Anniversary Heritage Edition" option had been planned with Corvette aluminum cylinder heads, tubular exhaust headers, and 6-speed manual transmission, but this was scrapped in favor of an option which amounted to nothing more than a graphics package of badges and rally stripes. The Camaro B4C got the addition of 1LE brakes and suspension, making it one of the best performing third generation Camaros. Just under 500 B4Cs were sold. The B4C option was also deemed popular enough to be carried on to the next model. 1992 Z28s also received some of the "left overs" from its Corvette cousin. Some received the cast aluminum style intake runners from the Corvette instead of the regular Camaro smooth tube ones. Most of the 1992 Z28s also received many 1LE components as well, like the popular polyurethane bushings instead of the standard rubber ones, as well as polyurethane transmission mounts. This was also the last year of production at the Camaro's assembly plant in Van Nuys, California as the last Camaro produced was a red Z28 on August 28, 1992.

92 Camaro

1992 was the final year of the third generation Camaro. The 120 hp (4.4 L) V8 became an option on the base, RS and Berlinetta models this year. The Z28 hood included a rear-pointing raised scoop with a solenoid operated flap which opened at full throttle, allowing the engine to breathe cooler air. 85 MPH speedometers became standard issue this year, replacing the 130 MPH unit. Z28s had new optional grey 5-spoke rims (later used on the 1986-1988 Monte Carlo SS) and smaller revised graphics on its lower-door decals. The side scoops were also changed from a louvered design to one with a single opening. The 350 V8 was no longer available in the base, RS or Berlinetta models, being reserved only for the Z28 this year.

Yenko Camaro

The Yenko Super Camaro was a modified Chevrolet Camaro prepared by Yenko Chevrolet, under the command of Don Yenko. The originals were all first-generation Camaros. When the Camaro debuted, a General Motors corporate edict prevented it from carrying an engine larger than 400 in³ (6.6 L); this put the Camaro at a serious disadvantage to the Ford Mustang and Plymouth Barracuda, since neither Ford nor Plymouth had a such a limit. Don Yenko, however, knew there was a market for an ultra powerful Camaro and found ways around the GM limit.

1997 Camaro

For the 1997 model year, the Camaro got a new interior and new tri-colored taillight that would be standard on all models from 1997 to 2002. It was offered with a "30th Anniversary Package" which included unique orange stripes on white base paint. It was available only on the Z28, SS, and RS 3.8 HO trims. 100 30th Anniversary Camaro SS vehicles were modified by SLP to include a 330 hp (246 kW) version of the LT4 engine (108 total LT4 cars were made, 100 US, 6 Canadian & 2 prototypes). While the LT4 made it the fastest factory Camaro available, it was also by far the most expensive with a price of over US$38,000. New rims became standard this year (except on the base coupes), being a 5-spoke design, (ZR1 style on SS models) available in either polished or chrome (or white on the Anniversary Z28 models), replacing the previous 10-spoke "salad-shooter" design.

1979 Camaro

The biggest changes for 1979 were the introduction of the luxury-oriented Berlinetta model, replacing the Type LT, and a restyled instrument panel with a much flatter appearance than the previous wraparound design (although the gauges themselves remained in the same places as before). The base model, RS and Z28s carried on as before, the Z28s now came with a front spoiler and fender flares much like its Pontiac Trans Am twin had, and now came with "Z28" decals that ran from the beginning of the front flares to the bottoms of the doors. Electric rear window defroster became optional this year, replacing the old blower type. Sales for 1979 were the highest ever for any generation Camaro before or since, numbering 282,571 units. Engine choices remained with the 250 I6 standard in the base and RS models, with the 305 2bbl being an option and standard on the Berlinetta. The 350 V8 remained standard on the Z28 and optional on the base, RS and Berlinetta.

1994 Camaro

Mostly minor changes occurred for 1994. The 4L60 automatic transmission was replaced with the 4L60E which included electronic controls. Accordingly, the car's on-board computer was modified from dealing only with the engine as in 1993 and earlier, to controlling both the engine and transmission on automatic models. Dashboard gauge graphics were changed from yellow to white. The front brakes were revised on the Z28 model. Cooling fans were changed mid-year from a parallel to a series setup. On low both fans operated on 6V, but on high both operated on 12V.
