Nothing beats a ice cool bath at the end of the race. Ended up 9th which I wasn’t happy with given we had top 5 speed. Safety car ruined our race a bit.

Visit to Aschem Girls Private School

Here is a pic from a trip I did to Aschem girls private school.

Was a short visit during their lunch break just to give them a bit of insight into how I approach a swim meet. Also to try and give them a bit of a rev up for the meet they are racing on Friday night!

They were a great group of girls, with some great questions too. Some of the questions included - “Did you make a conscious desicion to be a swimmer?” “How do you motivate yourself every day to give it your all?”

Its great to meet up and coming young swimmers with the passion and the right questions about what it takes to get to the elite level.

I hope the girls swim well Friday night! Good Luck!!

ok firstly i’d just like to say a quick sorry for the lack of posts lately, i’ve been sorting out my new internet phone and all that jazz which i’m not very good at but fingers crossed it is all sweet now–

since i blogged last a bit has been happening–

we went to alice springs and as expected there was flash flooding, it was the most outrageous conditions i have ever played in- in spots on the ground it would have been 15-20cm deep in water– however we got a good win against adelaide up there which was pleasing–

i was then given last week off with a few of the other boys, which was nice. However we got absolutely flogged everyday at training, all we didn’t do was play, but we’re all feeling fresh now–

this week we have a game against port in mt gambier on saturday, looking forward to getting back out there–

oh and what about the storm last weekend- crikey my car got punished with hail and has dents all over it, so annoying now i have to deal with insurance but oh well, fingers crossed everyone is alright and anyone else who got stuff damaged has insurance—

An achilles strain

Well it looks like my poor run of injuries has continued. My left achilles has flaired up and I’m off the track for a few days. It looks like we’ve gotten onto the problem early and it should be ok in a few more days. It’s already been 4 days since I stopped training on the track and already I’m feeling a lot better.

Stay tuned for my first update when i return to the track… hopefully later this week. I can’t afford a lot of time off the track as Commonwealth Games selection trials is just over a month away.

busy times!

Hi everyone,

It’s been a little while I know! It’s amazing.. I just feel like I’m getting busier and busier! I have one final assignment to finish up, it has to be done tonight before I pack to go to Abu Dhabi!

I was invited to go to the World Laureus Sports awards a little while ago and I absolutely jumped at the chance to go. I was actually nominated for this award in 2007 but due to training and competition schedules was unable to attend, so the opportunity to get along to what is considered to be the Oscars of the Sporting world is just wonderful and I am so excited!

I’m really hoping to meet Roger Federer and get lots of pictures with some of the most well known and successful athletes in the world! What an amazing experience!

When I get home I will be heading straight to Sydney Olympic Park for the Telstra Australian Swimming Championships being held from the 16th - 21st of March, which are the Swimming trials for Commonwealth Games. I’ll be involved with some of the stuff on pool deck and maybe a little bit of commentary, but whatever I get to do I’m just so glad that I’ll still be involved in the sport that I love! Make sure you all head along because there will be some great racing! Or catch it live on One!

I hope everyone is having a great year so far. It blows me away that it’s March already! So much happening!
